The Lent course starts on March 17th, St Patrick's day. There will be five sessions on consecutive Thursday's, as follows:
1. The people of the book: An exploration of our experience and images of the Bible, how the Scriptures shaped the people of God in the Old Testament, and how it can shape our community today.
2. The authority of Scripture: An exploration of the concept of authority and what we feel about it. We will examine what Scripture says about its own authority and consider what that means for how we read and apply it today.
3. Meditating on God’s word: An exploration of the difference between simply reading the Bible and meditating on it. We will examine how meditating on it can transform our relationship with the Bible and enrich our daily lives.
4. Christ the centre of Scripture: An exploration of the centrality of Jesus Christ in the message of the whole Bible, and how seeing him as the key to Scripture can help us study it more profitably and understand it more clearly.
5. Entering God’s story: A time to reflect on our own stories of faith and discipleship and to examine how engaging afresh with the Bible can help us enter more deeply into God’s story of his on-going work in our world.
